International Ceritification Indonesia-Japan Developmental Culture Exchange is an educational program by GOTRAVINDO that will be held on January 27th – February 01st, 2018 in Tokyo, Japan.

Indonesia and Japan are both rich with culture and traditions. Both countries are also have historical background connection that is worth studying. Not only is the culture worth studying, but also worth comparing. Being one of the most advanced nation existing in this current era, Japan has never neglected its tradition and culture. Instead, they make their culture and tradition as a priority in their daily lives and as an ideology in their decision making process. For the example, Japanese people still consider Nadeshiko, or tea ceremony is a sacred tradition. Nadeshiko is considered as a ceremony to cleanse one’s both body and soul. This is why this sacred tea ceremony originallity is still being kept and practiced.

BENEFIT

INTERNATIONALLY CERTIFIED LANGUAGE LECTURE

The participants will be given courses about Japanese language and its history also art to achieve the international certificate as a form of appreciation for completing the language lecture and cultural workshop in Intercultural Institute of Japan.

CULTURE COMPARISON AND ANALYZING

Learn how Japanese people apply their tradition and culture to every aspect of their lives. Experience, compare and analyze the cultural differences between two countries and understand the rich culture of Japanese.

INTERNATIONAL WORLD HERITAGE AND SPIRITUALITY STUDIES

The historical background of the religious buildings is also an object to be learned on this journey. This way, learning about the backstory of the country will be a piece of cake thing to do.

SOCIAL IMMERSION AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE

The constant interaction with the locals can also be used to share and widen Japanese people’s vision and perception about the culture of our country. It will be two ways learning instead of one way.

PREPARATION PROGRAM

The journey begins right when the participants hop into their planes and fly their way to Japan. The day will be spent on the sky.

SOCIAL LIFE IMMERSION

Arriving at the airport, the participants will be greeted by the thick atmosphere of friendliness and hospitality of Japan. There will be meet and greet also airport assistance provided by the committees before continuing the exploration of Japan. Afterwards, the participants will be brought straight to Shibuya prefecture, the busiest neighborhood of Japan. On the absolutely busy crossroad of Shibuya, thousand hundreds of people walk accross the street with an excellent orderly manner, a culture that can be an example to the participants of how important it is to follow order and the laws. Not only is Shibuya busy because of the people, but also because the festivals. Shibuya is full of joyful cultural festivals. The participants will be taken to witness a small part of Japanese cultural wealth. A road lined by sakura or cherry blossom trees also exists to add the merry of Shibuya prefecture.

INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE WORKSHOP AND FORUM DISCUSSION

The adventure continues to the third day when the participants will be brought to Intercultural Institute of Japan. Japanese is one of the most difficult languages to study in the whole world. Studying culture will not be complete if the learners do not desire to dive into the core of the culture itself, which is the language. By mastering Japanese, all communication barriers will be destroyed. Studying language is not only for practical purposes, but also to understand the art of the language itself. With thousands of characters that have their own meanings, Japanese is an exciting language to be studied further. After learning Japanese at Intercultural Institute of Japan, the participants will be brought to a place where they can apply what they have learned. The participants will be brought to visit Akihabara. Akihabara, or also known as the land of nerds or the geek central, is a place where technology meets culture. In this place, the particpants will be encouraged to learn about the famous culture of otaku and also the cultural trademark of Japan, anime and manga. The participants can also visit the famous theaters to see the play. Before getting back to the accommodation, the participants will be brought to Odaiba. Odaiba is an artificial islands that is connected to central Tokyo by a bridge called Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge is one of the most famous landmarks all across Japan. Other than visiting the craft shops, the participants can also see a miniature of Liberty Statue in Odaiba. Even though it is not exactly the same size, the Liberty Statue replica in Odaiba is very close to the original with the Rainbow Bridge in the backround.

HARMONY OF CULTURE AND HISTORY OF EDUCATION

On the day four, the participants will be joining Nadeshiko, of Japanese Tea Ceremony. Tea Ceremony is considered as a sacred tradition and the complicated procedure of the ceremony will be very interesting to be witnessed. After that, the participants will be taken to learn more about the religion in Japan. Asakusa Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan. In Asakusa Temple, the participants are encouraged to learn more about the religious side of Japan, along with the history, the stories, the myths behind the temple. A conversation with people around the temple is also encouraged to maximize the knowledge achieved. Move on from the most traditional structure in Japan to the most modern and tallest building across the nation, Tokyo Skytree. The participants will learn about the history about the exquisite bulding and see the beauty of Japan from the height before moving on to the next site. Afterwards, the participants will be visited the Japan’s Top Univeristy, University of Tokyo or Tokyo Daigaku. In University of Tokyo the participants will directly feel the atmosphere of education, and environmental education in Japan. Afterwards, the participants will be taken to Harajuku, where the most iconic trend of Japan grows. Harajuku is a world-wide popular trend. In this site, the participants will absorb as many knowledge as possible about the culture, the history and the current trend of harajuku. Trying the style of harajuku is fully encouraged to get the maximum experience of the visit.

FINAL JOURNEY

On the last day in Japan, the participants will be brought to the most popular park in Japan, Ueno Park. Ueno Park is where the Japan’s Top Univeristy, University of Tokyo or Tokyo Daigaku resides. Ueno Park is famous mainly because it is full of various museums and temples. In the spring time, Ueno Park is a perfect location to hold hanami or a picnic under the cherry blossom trees. This green spot in Tokyo is full of culture and history. After visiting Ueno Park, the participants along with the committees will go to the airport to fly back to Indonesia and end the journey.

The participants will arrive in Indonesia with so many new knowledge about Japanese culture in their hearts and minds that they will treasure for the rest of their lives.

The academic content of the program is formulated by Gotravindo in collaboration with the Intercultural Institute of Japan, University of Tokyo, and Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Every participant will receive double an International Certification issued by Intercultural Institute of Japan and Gotravindo.

All selected delegates will be active in social project as a voluntary program of Gotravindo to support the Indonesian future development. Please be informed the social project name is SEMANGAT MEMBANGUN NEGERI.

Requirements for University Student Exchange Program :
– University Student or Graduated Student, age between 18-25 years old
– Physically and Mentally Healthy
– Good communication skill and knowledge
– Having good personality and attitude
– Deal to real contribution in World Education
– Able to pay program FEE
